Where it all started.
Eight years ago, a dream took root in Álamos — and the rhythm still carries on
The journey of Jazz Crossing the Border comes full circle in Álamos, the place where it all started eight years ago — thanks to the vision and commitment of Max and Doc.
Back then, it was just an idea — to bring musicians and students together across borders, using jazz as the bridge. What began as a single concert in a small colonial town has grown into a movement that now stretches across Sonora and Arizona, inspiring hundreds of young people and uniting two nations through music.
As the 2026 tour returns to Álamos, the sounds of trumpets, saxophones, and laughter echo through the cobblestone streets, reminding everyone of how far this dream has come. The friendships built here, the lessons shared, and the hope born from those first notes continue to shape what Jazz Crossing the Border stands for today:
One rhythm. One people. One purpose — uniting hearts through jazz.

Undoubtedly we have no questions to ask which are unanswerable. We must trust the perfection of the creation so far, as to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened in our minds, the order of things can satisfy. Every man’s condition is a solution in hieroglyphic to those inquiries he would put.
